Story behind the photo:

Study of a Crucifix

Suffering becomes almost sublime at the summit of the Forcella Lagazuoi in the Dolomites. Whoever created this cross must either be a true artist or deeply religious, or perhaps both.

Christ suffers in dignity. I haven’t been religious for some time now, but a fascination with crucifixes is an interesting legacy of my past. This is the most stunning cross I've ever seen. Besides, the Forc is a phenomenal location to observe the Creation. The summit offers a magnificent panorama of well-known mountains such as Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Marmolada and Tofana di Rozes.

Strikingly, the crucifix is stuffed with coins that are wedged in the fissured wood of the cross. It’s a nice ritual and the wood never seems to become full. As if He wants to tell me that there’s still room - and not only in the wood.
